Learn more about bone density scans
Bone density scan (Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry or DEXA scan)
Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry or DEXA scanning, is the established method used for measuring bone density and diagnosing Osteoporosis and osteopenia. It is a painless and safe procedure which only takes a few minutes. A bone density can be useful if you are at increased risk of osteoporosis because of your family history, have been diagnosed with early menopause or if you have had a bone fracture. It can also be useful for monitoring the effectiveness of treatment in the prevention of osteoporosis.
